Maine Senior Games Coordinator
The Maine Senior Games Board of Directors has an immediate opening for a Games Coordinator. This is an Independent Contractor, year-round position averaging 25 hours per week. The Games Coordinator will be responsible for organizing, managing, and executing all aspects of the Maine Senior Games and making sure the Maine Senior Games is in compliance with the National Senior Games. The Games Coordinator reports directly to the Board of Directors of this 501 (c) 3 non-profit.
We are looking for someone who is a self starter, attentive to details and timelines, and has excellent organizational, communication and computer skills. The ideal candidate will have experience organizing and administering athletic events, is energetic and outgoing, is willing to provide ongoing support to the athletes, and has an interest in working with adults age 45+.
Compensation $35K to $40K
Working Conditions
The Games Coordinator will work from their own office space, provide their own office equipment to include but not limited to: cell phone, computer, copier/scanner, printer, and internet service. The person in this position will need to be able to physically lift and move sports equipment and other items, must have a valid driver’s license, and be willing to drive a small cargo van to and from events.
Coordinator-Maine Senior Games – Scope of Work
General Expectation
The Coordinator of the Maine Senior Games works under the direction of the Maine Senior Games Board of Directors.
Specific Responsibilities
Events
- Selects and schedules venues for the games
 - Work with event coordinators to secure officials (refs, score keepers) for events
 - With the volunteer committee, sets up volunteers for each event
 - At the beginning of each season set up data base in Fusesport
 - Prepares everything needed for each event
 - Enters athlete’s data into system.
 
National Senior Games Coordination
- Follows the National Senior Games membership guidelines to assure that the Maine Senior Games are in compliance.
 - Works with the NSG to keep the board informed on changes
 - Attends NSGA meetings as deemed necessary by the board of directors
 
Fund Development
- Work with the Fund Development committee to cultivate sponsors
 - Help to gather relevant data on the MSG for Grants
 
Communications
- Provide written and/or verbal reports at the Board of Directors meetings and other board or committee meetings where appropriate.
 - Prepare articles, documentation or correspondence where appropriate.
 - Attends two or three Health/Wellness/Senior Fairs
 
Board Relations
- Attend board meetings
 - Assist in recruitment and retention of board members.
 
Committee Management
- Assist in recruitment and retention of committee members.
 - Provide support for public relations and marketing for all events and programs.
 - Act as a liaison between the board and committees as needed.
 
Volunteer Services
- Manage association Volunteer database
 - Work with the Volunteer committee to recruit volunteers
 - Identify volunteers needed at each events to the committee so they can recruit volunteers for each event
 - With Volunteer Committee, hold an annual Volunteer Training/Information workshop
 
Non-Profit Law
- Understand and work within the laws governing not-for-profit corporations, using guidance from the American Association of Association Executives and the appropriate Maine branch.
 
Working Conditions
- It is expected that the person filling this position will provide their own office equipment to include but not limited to; telephone, fax, copier, computer, printer and Internet service, etc.
 - There may be travel throughout the state, and to professional conferences within the region and nationally.
